SEEKING APPLICANTS

Are you a high-achieving high school student who is interested in science and making global connections? Do you thrive in an environment of collaboration, cultural diversity, and applied learning? Join us for the inaugural 2025 Hawaiʻi International Science Experience (HISE) for a unique opportunity to interact and foster relationships with international peers while broadening your view of the world. HISE is paving the way for Hawaiʻi Island youth to embrace the challenges of an interconnected world with passion and determination.

PROGRAM DETAILS

HISE 2025 will be a five-day exploration of fun learning activities, behind-the-scenes industry tours, and collaborative projects across Hawaiʻi Island.

• • Program dates: July 16 – July 20, 2025 (F/T participation required)
  • Tuition: Free (Includes housing, meals, and transportation during program)
  • Spaces are limited
  • Application deadline: May 21, 2025

  ACTIVITIES:

  • Engagement with students from Ritsumeikan High School in Kyoto, and Lewiston-Porter High School in New York
  • Subjects Covered: Astronomy, Space Exploration Technology, Digital Data Analytics, Marine Science, Natural Resource Conservation, Sustainability Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Volcanology, Geothermal, and Future Careers
  • Cultural Immersion: Native Hawaiian wisdom in modern science, island culture, and history
  • Science and Social Collaboration (Science activities beyond HISE)
  • Special Educator Sessions

  ELIGIBILITY:

  You must be a student at one of the following schools to apply for the 2025 HISE program:

  • • Hilo High School
    • Waiākea High School
    • Kamehameha School – Hawaiʻi Island
    • Parker School
    • Kealekehe High School
